
Initial HSE First Aid at Work Course (NEW 3 Day)
This is a new 3 day initial Health & Safety Executive (HSE) approved First aid at work course (FAW), specifically designed for the workplace, covering first aid emergencies & how to effectively deal with them. It is strictly run in accordance with The Health & Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. First Aid Scotland actively involve the delegates in every step of the learning process. Our aim is to produce confident and competent first aiders, and to provide employers with a complete first aid teaching package.
Course content for the new 3 day course includes:
- Understanding the role of the first aider
- Recording incident & actions
- Managing unconscious casualties (including management of seizures)
- Treating & controlling bleeding
- Treating burns & scalds
- Treating bone, muscle & joint injuries
- Treating minor injuries
- Treating shock & Anaphylaxis
- Treating eye injuries
- Treatment of Poisons
- Treatment of Choking
- Spinal Injuries
- Treatment of Minor injuries
- Treatment of Major Injuries
Length of course:
3 Days (18 hours)
Outcome:
A First aid at work certificate, approved by the Health & Safety Executive (The Health & Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981) along with an authorisation card and enamel first aider badge, is awarded to successful students following full attendance & on passing final assessments in practice & theory. This certificate is valid from 3 years from date of assessment.
Please note that the Health & Safety Executive have now introduced a recommendation for annual refresher training (2 hour) for the above course.
