
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course (1 Day)
This course is HSE approved, but can be tailor made for the workplace, and is designed to provide a first aider to provide first- aid arrangements in a company, where the employer has assessed the needs of the company, and deems that a 3 day course is not required. Arrangements should be made for such a person to be available at any time when there are persons at work.
NB. Previously trained appointed persons are not first-aiders and Health & Safety Executive approval was not required for this type of training prior to 1st October 2009.
Course content for the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course includes:
- Role of First aider
- Assessing the situation & recording incidents
- Use of available equipment
- Acting safely, promptly & effectively in an emergency
- First aid for the unconscious casualty
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
- First Aid for the Choking Casualty
- First aid for the bleeding or wounded casualty
- First Aid for the casualty suffering from shock
- First aid for Minor Injuries (cuts/ grazes/ bruises/ burns/ splinters)
- How to apply slings
Length of course:
1 day (6 hours) May vary dependant on specific requirements
Outcome:
On completion of the day, the delegate will receive a First aid certificate of attendance confirming their status as an HSE accredited First Aider.
