| Description | Following the change in first aid training in 2008, which reduced the 4 day First Aid at Work (FAAW) training to a 3 day First Aid at work (FAW) course, the Health & Safety strongly recommended that annual skills updates were carried out by all first aiders to address the concerns regarding skills fade. The annual skills update (ASU) course is a half day (3-4 hour) refresher course which has been designed to address this issue, covering: assessment of the situation unconscious casualties seizures shock wounds and bleeding bandaging and slings Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) CPR and an AED demonstration. |
